Biography
My Name is Izedin Arnautovic, called Edi. I was born on the 28th February 1986 in the Bosnian city Bihac, and I grew up in the middle of Switzerland. For a long time, I didn’t have anything to do with photography. As a young boy, when I tried to touch my father’s camera, I always heard, “Watch out, this is expensive!“ and I let it go… until I received my first camera by a coincidence. More about that in the text, below.
My Story: A photographer by coincidence.
In the year 2002, I received my first camera by a lucky coincidence, and I want to tell you this story.
In school, we had a one-week, group project, with the topic “Digital Photography.” Without any experience, but with much interest, I joined this group.
A teacher lent us his camera, and by the end of the week, a friend of mine wanted to take some more pictures. As gave him the camera, I didn’t see notice that he wasn’t ready to hold it securely, and therefore it fell to the ground: total damage!
According to the repair company, a repair of the camera would be too expensive, so we paid the teacher for the camera. Afterwards I told him that I wanted the damaged camera for me. I brought it to a friend, who repaired it by himself. So now I was happy to have a camera and my photography career took its turn.
I started to become very interested in photography. Shortly after, I received my first proper camera, and I participated in a photography contest and won a brand new camera, which was a lot better. In the same year, a friend of mine and I founded our nightlife party label Polarstar.ch, which motivated me to continue my hobby.
Years passed, and I switched some cameras until September 2006, when I got my first DSLR Camera, a dream come true.
Shortly after that, I started as a freelance photographer for the local newspaper, Neue Obwaldner Zeitung„.
For the first time, in the 2007, I was asked to photograph a wedding. I was full of happiness, but I was also scared as hell; that’s why I took my best friend with me, to take pictures, as well, In case something went wrong with my camera.
Since then, I never stopped shooting weddings. I have photographed over 1000 weddings so far, and I hope to attend many more.
Further big successes were, in 2016, taking 2nd place in the Wedding Award Switzerland, as well as the cover for the Swiss magazine Schweizer Illustrierte.
